The Government of Assam has released the official notification for the
Special Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026. The examination is conducted
for Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) levels for candidates of
Bodo, Garo, Manipuri and Hmar medium as per NCTE guidelines.
Candidates who are permanent residents of Assam and meet the eligibility criteria
may appear in Paper I (Lower Primary) and Paper II (Upper Primary).

To become a teacher for Classes I-V (primary level), you need to have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and have a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) or a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). Educational Qualification
Candidates need to fullfill certain educational requirements that vary for the Primary and Secondary Levels. Refer to the table below for the educational Qualification required for each level.
Primary Level (Class 1 to 5)
Candidates must Attaining a minimum of 50% marks in senior secondary (or its equivalent).
